Role details

Kirkwood Ski Education Foundation, a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit, seeks a volunteer treasurer to support its Board of Directors.

Term: Three-year staggered term
Time: 10–15 hours per month, including 1–2 board meetings per month or as needed
Location: Remote, with occasional meetings at Kirkwood Mountain Resort

Responsibilities

Review financial statements and monitor the foundation’s financial condition.
Help prepare and review the annual budget, track results against it, and explain differences to the board.
Present clear financial reports and give board members access to financial information.
Oversee timely IRS Form 990 and other required filings, along with audits or financial reviews.
Maintain financial controls and documented policies for expenses, cash handling, and signing authority.
Work with fundraising committees on goals, planning, and financial sustainability.
Manage banking relationships and oversee investments in line with KSEF policies, risk tolerance, and ethical guidelines.
Serve on finance-related committees and help board members understand their financial responsibilities.

Preferred experience

A background in accounting, finance, or business management; knowledge of nonprofit reporting and tax requirements; strong analysis, organization, and communication. Grant writing and previous nonprofit board service are also welcome.
